Cumbrian Dentists

How much does a private dentist cost in Cumbria?

From published Carlisle-area price lists (checked August 2026): a private check-up runs £45–£61, a hygienist visit from £81, white fillings from £170, root canal from £435, crowns from £265, dentures from £420 and teeth whitening £250–£600. Implants are priced on consultation everywhere we checked.

Where these numbers come from

Three practices publish their fees — Bupa Dental Care Carlisle, Spedding Dental and the Strictly Dental group — and this site's ranges are built only from figures they publish, dated, never from national averages. 'From' prices mean exactly that: the starting point.

Why prices spread so widely

The same word covers different products: dentures run £420 to £2,400 depending on partial versus full and materials; whitening splits between supervised home kits and in-practice sessions. Compare itemised quotes, not headline words.

Private and NHS aren't enemies

Going private for one treatment doesn't remove you from any NHS list, and NHS charges stay fixed at £27.90/£76.60/£332.10 wherever you're seen. Many people mix the two deliberately.

The most transparent private market is whitening — teeth whitening in Carlisle.
